On the Day 1 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip,Meet your guide and begin your transfer to Marangu Gate, which takes approximately 45 minutes. The journey passes through Marangu village, located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon reaching the park gate, all hikers must register with the park office. After check-in and registration at Marangu gate, we drive to Kilema gate. Upon arrival, make sure you have all your backpack (at least drinking water, packed lunch and extra clothes) and give your mountain bike a final check.
You will then start the first 16km section of Kilimanjaro cycling trip trail (with your guide also on a mountain bike) from Kilema Gate (1,950m) to Horombo Hut (3,705m). Cyclists with good physical fitness, mountain biking skills and depending on road conditions can ride Horombo Hut. It is important to remember that the most common cause of altitude sickness is climbing too quickly. We will stop regularly and give your body maximum time to adapt to the higher altitudes. We will try to reach Horombo Hut around 3:00 PM. DINNER AND OVERNIGHT AT KILIMANJARO HOROMBO HUT.
On the Day 2 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip After breakfast, you will start your cycling trek through the alpine desert, some of the areas where you will ride over small stones to Mawenzi Hut and back to Horombo Hut. Today 90% of the route is on "alpine desert vegetation", the cycle path is 10 kilometers long.
On the Day 2 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip After taking early breakfast, you will meet your guide and begin your ascent trekking into the alpine desert habitat. The first 3km of the trail is very rocky and pedaling will be very difficult as this section is very stony and eroded. After about 3 km the path improves and it is possible to pedal again. The "saddle" (which refers to the area between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks) is relatively flat and cycling is much easier. But the high altitude, low oxygen levels and cold conditions make the 7km stretch up to Kibo Hut tiring and challenging. The last Kilimanjaro cycling trip km before reaching the Kibo hut is particularly tiring. You will be reminded once again to slow down and drink plenty of water! Lunch will be served upon arrival at Kibo Hut. After lunch we begin an incredible descent of Kilimanjaro, descending nearly 800m in 7km. The last 3km downhill to Horombo Hut are very technical and demanding. Dinner and overnight at the Kilimanjaro Horombo hut.
On the Day 4 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip Wake up early and make sure your bags are full and ready to go. After breakfast you will meet your guide and return to the Kibo refuge. Here, too, you'll have to push and carry a lot for the first 3km, while the last 7km up to the Kibo Hut offers good cycling. We will enjoy lunch and then try to rest. Depending on how you feel, around 4pm it will be possible to partially retrace the Kilimanjaro cycling trip trail to the top to get oriented for the summit attempt later that evening. In the arid alpine desert is Kibo Hut, a stone log cabin with bunk beds for 60 climbers, but no nearby streams.
There is a pedestal toilet behind the cabin. The summit (Uhuru Peak) is now 1195m high and you will make your Kilimanjaro cycling trip final ascent the same night. Prepare your equipment, thermal clothing, etc. for your climb to the top. This should include replacing your headlamp and camera batteries and making sure you also have a spare set handy. As a Summit Potter or guide, bring your water in a thermos to avoid freezing. Go to bed around 7 p.m. and try to get as much rest and sleep as possible around 10 p.m. Dinner and night at the KIBO hut.
On the Day 5 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip At four o'clock in the morning, you will be woken up by your guides to begin the zigzag trek up the long screen slope. After about two hours you will reach the Hans Meyer cave and from there the ascent becomes steeper. Continue your ascent to Gilman's Point for approximately three hours. You take your Kilimanjaro cycling trip bike from Porters and ride up Uhuru Peak. When you get to Uhuru Peak, spend a few minutes or take photos, then descend to Stella Point. After lunch, you will cycle to Horombo. Today you will cycle from Kibo to Uhuru, then Kibo 15% to 20% alpine desert vegetation and from Kibo to Horombo 100% "Alpine desert vegetation/ice cap". Dinner and a night at Kilimanjaro Horombo Hut.
On the Day 6 of 6 Days Kilimanjaro cycling trip After breakfast, you will make your last trek to Kilema gate through alpine and rainforest to Kilema gate, then you will be transferred to Marangu gate for check out then transferred to hotel in Moshi. Dinner and overnight in Moshi.
