More morning and afternoon game drives into the Serengeti with lunch and a rest at the lodge in the afternoon. The term Serengeti “Siringet” means endless plains as originated from Maasai language. Carnivores such as leopard, lion, hyena and cheetah live in the central plains. This park is usually the site of the annual wildebeest and zebra migration that takes place between the Kenyan Mara and the Serengeti. Here you can observe different species of birds such as eagles, ducks, geese, herons,
vultures, secretary birds, ibises, storks, herons, kites, pelicans, cranes and guinea fowl.
Serengeti National Park is possibly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world with more than 3 million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen there, including the "Big Five": elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo. Other commonly encountered species include hippo, giraffe, antelope, impala and other species of antelope, baboons, monkeys and an abundance of more than 500 species of birds. In May or early June, huge herds of wildebeest, gazelle and zebra begin their spectacular annual northward migration. Follow predators, lions, cheetahs and wild dogs with vultures circling overhead.
After lunch, continue game viewing in Serengeti and drive to Serengeti Gate to visit Serengeti National Park and then continue game drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at a camp or lodge on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater.
